Recipes for Rookies

It may come as a surprise to some, but you don’t have to be the next Gordon Ramsay to cook up something that is tasty let alone edible. There are plenty of delicious dishes that can be made by just about anyone.

The following meals are oh so yummy and super easy to make:

1. Chicken Tacos
First, start off with some hard or soft taco shells – which ever you prefer. Second, prepare your toppings such as tomato, lettuce, corn, cilantro, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and lime. Put ground chicken in a pan, add your taco seasoning and fry the chicken until it is done. Put the seasoned meat in the taco, add your favourite toppings, and take a bite!

2. Spaghetti & Meatballs
Spaghetti and meatballs is a classic! Start off by preheating the oven for the meatballs since they will take the longest and place them on a baking tray and when ready, in the oven. Next, bring a pot of water to a boil and add in your pasta noodles. In another pot, pour in a jar of pasta sauce and put it on low until it heats up. If you are feeling more advanced feel free to sauté some onions, mushrooms, peppers and add them to the sauce. Don’t forget to top it off with shredded cheese and pair it with some garlic bread – yum!

3. Pita Pizza’s
If you are looking for something more than frozen pizza but something quick, try making a personal pita pizza. The crust is ready to go! Grab that pita and slap some pizza sauce on it, some mozzarella cheese, and your choice of toppings. Toss the pizza in the oven until the crust is crispy and the edges are golden brown. Lastly, enjoy!

4. Mac n’ Cheese
Craving some cheesy goodness? This is the dish for you! Bring a pot of water to a boil and put in some macaroni noodles. Once the noodles are tender, drain them, add some shredded cheese and milk to the pot and keep adding and mixing until your desired consistency.

5. Stir Fry
The dish that you can make 100 different ways. Cook up some rice in a pot and in a separate pan, sauté your desired veggies with a clove of garlic and soya sauce for some flavor. If you want meat in your stir fry, sauté the meat before the veggies because it will take longer. Mix it all up and eat up!
