939 Western’s Guide to Hosting Thanksgiving

If this is your first Thanksgiving away from the family, or if you are planning on hosting a get together in your 939 Western apartment, check out our guide to hosting the perfect occasion!

Ask for Help

Thanksgiving can be a potluck affair! To alleviate some of the stress associated with hosting a meal, consider asking your friends to bring an appetizer or side plate. Divide and conquer, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it (this includes setting up and cleaning after the event as well).

Plan Ahead

If dishes don’t need to be made the day of, consider making them the day before to keep the day of as smooth as possible. You will be happy you got some of the work done beforehand. You can even set the table the night before as well!

Stick to What You Know

You might be tempted to try out a new recipe, but try to stick to what you know. Grandma’s recipe might be the best option especially if this will be your first time hosting a large event. If you’re an experienced host, or are a master chef in the kitchen, try one of our suggested Thanksgiving side dishes here (link to the Thanksgiving post on the CLV blog).

Remember what the day is about; being thankful. Your friends are sure to be impressed with all of the effort that went into hosting the event, and they will be happy to have spent the day together. A few bumps may arise along the way, but you’ll all laugh about it later.

Wishing you, your family and your friends a wonderful Thanksgiving!
