  1. Mason Jar Tissue Holders

With allergy season ramping up, it’s always a good idea to have a box of tissues by the bedside, within arm’s reach. These adorable mason jar tissue holders are a stylish alternative to the traditional unsightly cardboard boxes, and can be customized to match any colour scheme. All you’ll need to pull of this adorable DIY are mason jars (wide mouth jars are easiest to get the tissues in but regular works as well), scrapbook paper, an x-acto knife, a pair of scissors, and a package of tissues – the “perfect fit” Kleenex brand tissues work best, since they’re already meant to fit in a cylindrical container. 1. Floral Wall Monogram

What better way to give your apartment bedroom a personal touch than to decorate with the one thing that’s distinctly you – your monogram. This feminine DIY requires a cardboard or paper mâché letter (which can be purchased from most craft stores relatively inexpensively), an x-acto knife, a serrated bread knife, floral foam bricks, faux flowers, wire cutters and a hot glue gun. It’s actually simpler than you might think, and involves lining the hollowed out letter with the foam bricks, then filling up the foam by poking in the wire stems of your faux flowers and leaves. 1. Rotary Phone Succulent Planter

This project might require a bit more effort than some of the others, but the end result is totally worth it. Succulent plants are popular among students, due to their low maintenance nature and ability to make any space feel fresh and cheerful. Upcycle a vintage telephone into this cute, quirky holder for your succulent and add a fun pop of colour to any room! For this DIY, you’ll need to get your hands on an old rotary phone, and the thrift store is your best bet. Additionally, you’ll need E6000 glue, a screwdriver, spray paint in the colour of your choice, and of course – your succulent! Click here for a detailed breakdown of the steps.

It’s also highly customiezable, as you can switch up the swatch colours to coordinate with the rest of your bedroom. All you’ll need is a large picture frame (the step-by-step uses a 12” by 16”, but you can adapt as needed), 35 paint swatches in a variety of colours, scotch tape, scissors, a ruler and a dry-erase marker. Spend some time picking out patterns that show your personality and suit the colour scheme of your bedroom, then get to work! You’ll need a light switch plate (pick one up for cheap or just use the one you already have), rubbing alcohol, a cotton ball, two (or more!) different patterns of washi tape, an x-acto knife, Modge Podge Satin, a foam brush, and just a few minutes of your time to bring this DIY to life! 1. Custom Drawer Liners

This DIY is both practical and stylish, and will take you less than hour to complete once you’ve collected the necessary supplies. The basis of the project is wallpaper, which you can select in any pattern or colour to suit your decorating style. Simply cut your chosen wallpaper to fit your drawer, and then activate it using a paint roller and a bucket of water. Wait 3-5 minutes and then unfold your wallpaper, lining the drawer; you can use a clean, damp sponge to remove bubbles and wrinkles.
